| Pastor Duke Bendix is the Senior Pastor of The Gathering Place. |

| After meeting Christ at Oregon State University in 1970, Duke quit school and was eventually drafted into the Army. He met Cathy while stationed at Ft. Riley, just outside Manhattan, Kansas. Shortly after their marriage in early 1972, Duke was sent to Vietnam and subsequently discharged from the Army. |

| Returning to Kansas, Duke and Cathy finished their undergraduate work at Kansas State University. Duke and Cathy moved to Boston where he obtained his Master of Theological Studies at Gordon-Conwell Seminary and entered the ministry in 1975. Since that time, Duke has led or helped to lead churches in Manhattan, KS, Kansas City, Dallas-Ft. Worth, and the Washington DC area. In 1996, they joined with Brett Fuller merging their congregation with Grace Covenant Church (now Metro Morning Star of Northern Virginia) in the DC area. In late 2003, they were sent from Northern Virginia to strengthen the young work in Greensboro, NC pastored by their son-in-law and daughter, Ron and Hilary Echols. |

| Married now for 33 years, Duke and Cathy have 3 married children, Hilary, Kore and Seth. In turn, they have become grandparents of a growing extended family that currently numbers 5 grandsons and a granddaughter of whom they are very proud. |
